The Rock On Story

Welcome to Rock On equestrian sportswear. Here is a little Bio to explain to you our visitors where Brand Rock On comes from. Rock On Equestrian was established in 2011 and derived from my relationship with my best four-legged friend, my partner in crime, My Horse Rocko.

I unintentionally purchased Rocko as a Weanling directly from an amazing Stud in Munster, Germany, owned by a Gentleman called Wilhelm Holkenbrink. So I spontaneously joined a trip to Germany with an associate looking to buy a yearling, and curious little old me went along for the ride.

We viewed a fair few yearlings at two separate studs, Wilhelm Holkenbrink’s being the second to visit on the trip. We had two amazing stallions presented to us, Rock Well and Rock Forever. I was in heaven. Shortly after, Wilhelm's Stud manager drove us to the field where the weanlings were in a heard and most, were set for the Westfalian auction. Amongst the crowd, a timid little face was staring at me. I had no money, not a penny in savings, but I knew I had to have ‘that’ as at this point I had no idea if he was a Colt or filly, friendly or wild… I just knew I had to have. So I agreed on a price (still knowing I had no money), and off we traveled back to the UK.

At this time, I was working in London, so come Monday morning, I made sure I was at my desk early to await the arrival of my Boss. Finally, 8 am came, and the Boss arrived. I gingerly walked to his office, knocked on the door, and asked if I could enter. I sat down and explained to him the experience of my weekend, and it is with that that I ended the conversation by asking him if ‘the company’ would lend me the money. By 4 pm the money had been transferred to the European Union, and Rocko arrived three weeks later. I was so thankful.

Rocko (Registered name ROCK ON), now 15years old, has seen me through some of the worst and best times of my life. At times life has taken me to hell and back. Rocko has seen me through all the stresses in Life from bad relationships with partners or friends, professional transitions, heartbreak, bereavement, financial trouble, the stress and pain of my dear Mother and her Mental Health illness, accepting my human man in my Life now Rocko’s Daddy Steve and welcoming a beautiful stepdaughter Lola, and my miracle baby boy Marley. Amongst the rough times, it is down to Rocko that I have still been able to live my equestrian dream. His talent and personality have allowed me to meet and train with the most unique and inspirational people both in the UK and in Germany namely one, the incredible Anna Ross.

The love I have for Rocko and our partnership is indescribable. I nearly lost him in November 2019 to severe Colic Surgery. When lockdown hit, the time at home allowed me not only to appreciate and spend time with my family, but I was also able to play a key part in his rehabilitation and spend the time with him that he deserved. Nearly losing him scared the Life out of me.

So how did the sportswear derive from Rocko? When returning to riding following very traumatic childbirth and Rocko’s Colic surgery, I had lost control of my core and body. All my riding strength and confidence had gone. I am 5’3 and a size 14-16, and although I’m not 5,9 with long legs, I still deserve to look and feel nice when riding my beautiful horse. The amazing David Rumsey took us on, and thanks to David, he reinstated my confidence in my partnership with Rocko, and it felt so good to be back to doing what Love with my boy. At this point, the country was well and truly into lockdown, so with all the above in mind, I decided to put pencil to paper and began to design quality comfortable apparel to suit all women that can make you feel ‘held in’ and pretty damn good and from this, I trademarked the brand Rock on Equestrian as a tribute to my boy ROCK ON.

To all that are reading this, I would like to thank you all for your support, and I do hope you will try the products. It’s a brand that will hopefully evolve; we are already in the middle of creating more designs and garments.

Two Hearts, One love, Rock & Katie.
